Fight the Good Fight of Faith
Satan, the adversary of Believers in Christ, walks about strategically seeking whom he may devour. I Peter 5:8-9 declare, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” We are directed by God to resist Satan steadfastly in the faith. The Holy Spirit, who is greater than Satan, arms us with the faith to do so. Specifically, He supplies us with truths regarding Satan that guarantee our victory. We fight him from a position of truth.
Everything that proceeds from Satan is a lie. (St. John 8:44) He uses the devices of manifestations. He illegally causes disease (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.), poverty and turmoil in people’s lives. With his lying manifestations, he directs fearful thoughts and imaginations to our hearts with which he seeks to defeat us. He persuades people to receive his thoughts by directing their attention to his manifestations away from God’s knowledge. Then he forces them into submission by making them talk about the lying manifestation in natural terms. Example: “I have cancer.” The truth is that by the stripes of Jesus, we were healed. (I Peter 2:24)
Every manifestation of Satan exalts itself against the “Knowledge” of God. Therefore, to be successful, we must focus our attention on God’s truth, rather than on the affliction. The reason is that Satan’s afflictions are light and only for a moment. God’s truths are eternal. II Corinthians 4:17-18 declare, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Further, God promises to give us victory over every affliction that we encounter. Psalm 34:19 declares, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”
God’s Will is for us to be bold as a lion when facing afflictions. (Proverbs 28:1) We are bold because God has not given us the spirit of bondage to fear. (II Timothy 1:7) Armed with overcoming Faith and boldness, we stand and fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal things. (I Timothy 6:12) Our war, being spiritual, is waged with spiritual things: thoughts, imaginations, and natural reasoning brought by Satan. II Corinthians 10:4-5 declare, “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” When we defeat Satan’s thoughts and imaginations, we conquer him. God Bless.
