Our Blessings Follow completed Instructions
Almighty God, with whom we link in Covenant through Jesus Christ, is a Rewarder. The blessings that He has prepared to be released into our lives are given to us as rewards. Hebrews 11:6 declares, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” A reward, by definition, is something given in response to a specific action performed that the rewarder prescribes. Only after performance is the reward released.
Our thinking regarding receiving rewards must begin with knowing God’s Will. We must know what He has prepared for us and what He requires us to do to receive them. The Holy Spirit reveals these things to us. (St. John 16:13) St. Matthew 6:10 declares, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.”
Learning God’s Will causes us to become spiritually wise individuals. Ephesians 5:17 declares, “Wherefore be ye not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” God’s Will is incorporated in specific commands or instructions to us. After carrying out His instructions, we always receive a blessing. Proverbs 8:33 declares, “Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.” His Wisdom is critically important because He has ordained that only spiritually wise individuals inherit His glory. Proverbs 3:35 declares, “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
Wise behavior by us is God’s Will in motion. It is produced by our following His instructions. When we follow God’s instructions in our family life, on our jobs and socially; we are acting wisely. With this wise behavior, we have a right to expect to receive God’s manifestations of His glory, or His promises fulfilled in our lives. Hebrews 10:36 declares, “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
We will be challenged before we possess His blessings. God instructs us how to treat those who challenge us to inherit blessings. I Peter 2:8-9 declare, “Finally, be ye all of one mind having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.” Blessing those who do evil to us is the Will of God. The Holy Spirit empowers us supernaturally to love those who come in conflict with us. When we obey God’s command to bless, we show Him that we love Him and we do His Will. Psalm 31:23 declares, “O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.” God Bless.
